Zeromus is just doing what he always does, which is let the forks do the work for him and then incorporate it into DeSmuME.

Yup. He rejects a feature and drives contributers away, they work on a fork, fork gets too successful, he ports its enhancements back, fork stops development, back to case 1.

So far we have had: Increased internal resolution (X432 fork) Improved JIT recompiler (0.9.11 speed fork) Fixed cart read speeds (melonDS) Waiting for two console generations to add back the fork stuff isnt too bad, lol.

Zeromus did a lot of questionable things, but ultimately this act in particular, no matter its reasons or background, is in the best interests of DS emulation.

Theres still more stuff to be done with DS emulation, more unemulated peripherals and a whole console revisions catalogue either desmume or melonDS could do.

Time will tell if this is just an attempt to ride former name recognition and a repeat of that old tactic with melonDS major selling point, or whether desmumes team has any serious intentions to complete missing areas in DS emulation after all of this time.
